Yesterday, was a work-out-of-office day. Stacey and I attended The 21st Century Bride event co-produced by Local Traffic Builder and Wedding Podcast Network. More affectionately known as #21CB by all our fellow twitter tweeps.

I can’t quite remember the statistic, but we were in attendance at The Landmark in East Rutherford, NJ, with over 100 wedding colleagues PLUS cyber viewers who were watching the live broadcast via webcams from over 5 Countries! Technology is so amazing.

Okay, now down to the 411 – basically this event was an educational event for wedding professionals discussing how to utilize social marketing in the wedding industry, after all, we are working with the 21st century bride now many of whom use twitter, facebook, internet, wedding forums, etc to find vendor recommendations, to communicate with vendors and share knowledge with other brides in the world.

All the speakers were phenomenal. Who knew we were in for a lunch and a comedy show! While there were a lot of great speakers at this wedding event, between Stacey and I, here’s a few and the one piece of advice from each of them:

  • Robert Allen, Founder/Executive Producer, Wedding Podcast Network - best websites are simple & intuitive
  • Alan Berg, Author, “If your Website was an Employee Would You Fire It?” - make your website & ads aspirational
  • Dina Eisenberg, Attorney & Communication Strategist, PositivelyWed.com & SpeakupPowerfully.com - be high touch…importance is caring & connecting with people
  • Amy Wilkins, Senior VP, Martha Stewart Weddings – brides don’t want cookie cutter. Listen and customize to their needs they are unique
  • Anne Chertoff, former Editor-in-Chief, aisledash.com - start using an editorial calendar so you know what you’re going to write about in advance & write your ideas down & make sure your blog is simple, easy & enjoyable. If it’s not enjoyable don’t do it
  • Chris Jaeger, Founder, Marketing to Brides Online - 80% of clicks occur on organic search from, top tanks worthless if don’t convert sessions to calls
  • Christine Dyer, Founder, Bridal Tweet - Don’t make your blog a hard sales pitch. Just use beautiful pics and great info

We had a great time. Saw some friendly faces and met some new ones. Looking forward to implementing some of the ideas that popped up in our minds.

Before the clock strikes midnight, we wanted to do a quick update.

I’m sure you’ve all seen the devastation in Japan and heard about all the lives affected and/or lost. We’re saddened by all the horrific news and images we’ve seen all over the internet and the news. So, tomorrow, we’re going to be participate in the Bloggers Day of Silence in recognition of all those that have lost their lives and all who have been affected.

Bloggers Day of Silence is part of a campaign called “For Japan with Love” brought to the blogsphere by Utterly Engaged and Ever Ours. Basically, tomorrow – Friday, March 18th – do not post at all on your blog. So, you won’t see any updates from us here tomorrow in honor of this event.

All bloggers can participate in this event. You can go to their link for Bloggers Day of Silence for more details.

If you don’t have a blog, but would like to participate, this event is two-parts. There’s also a fundraiser piece. You can go to For Japan With Love for more info. There will be a direct link on the website to the fundraising page for ShelterBox. Per Ever Ours, ShelterBox was one of THE first organizations asked by Japan to help and were on hand on the Saturday after the quake. Each large, green ShelterBox is tailored to a disaster but typically contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items. Please check it out and whatever you can contribute is appreciated.
The third way you can help the cause is by volunteering your time at any organization working to help the cause or you could even start your own cause or fundraiser. There are no limits for those that want to help everyone in Japan.

Hi Everyone!

Not sure how many of my readers know it, but McMorg and I moved this past March into a place of our very own!

We bought a condo in E. Rutherford NJ (its where the Meadowlands are) and have been spending A LOT of time working on making it our own rather then the cookie cutter place it could be if we didnt put our own personal touches on it! Sooooo below are a few photos from some of the rooms for you all to see and enjoy! There are still things we need to do but it is almost there! Wedding season has forced me to put a hold on finish decorating the bathrooms and tiling the kitchen backsplash, but that’s ok! ENJOY!!!

So my dear dear friend Lena came to visit this past week from the wonderful, mystical land of New Mexico ~ where I went to college.  She and I were room mates and have stayed close ever since!  So one of our favorite things to do is to go on adventures!  We decided to take Wickett and head out to Coney Island on tuesday, which was a gorgeous 58 degree weather day.  We had so much fun just walking the boardwalk, taking some photos, and watching all the coney island locals hanging out listening to music while sitting on lawn chairs out at their favorite spots.  Enjoy some of the photos!

Hi All. So last night I was talking to a wonderful amazing friend of mine about my first ever “Boudoir” session that will be taking place next week. So anyways, we got to talking and she asked me if I wanted some practice prior to the shoot.  I have always done fine art photography and done nudes before it had been a while and I feel that boudoir is a bit different~ not sure why… Anyways, she has always wanted photos like these done, and so it was perfect.  After taking the photos and talking about them with her and her boyf. and listening to their reactions I decided, I really enjoyed the style I shot these in.  They arent cliche and she isnt trying too hard to be “sexy” she just is sexy.  So I hope you all enjoy the photos… I think they are beautiful.

Hi All.

So for any of you still looking for a wedding venue, or have a friend or family still in need… I found this great website that has a long list of unique spaces!  ~ the first 20-30 places have little images, the ones towards the bottom are just links… but I have heard of a large handful and have shot at a few as well….
